CROSS COUNTRY CHALLENGE

New for 2017 - This competition will consist of one round of show jumps followed immediately by a round of the cross country. Any show jumping and cross country penalties accrued will be combined to give the total penalties, with the winner being the competitor with the least number of penalties. Both rounds will be timed and in the event of a tie for any place the competitor with the fastest show jumping round will be placed higher.

Cross country dress. No fixed peak hats to be worn and Medical Arm Bands must be worn.

Riders may enter more than one class but please note that no horse can be ridden more than once over the course of jumps on the same day.(British Riding Clubs rule).

Course will be 'open flagged' ie: if you wish to jump the larger fences, providing you are between the red and white flags, you will not incur any penalties.

Class 1A - Junior Intermediate
Riders not to have attained 18th Birthday on 1st January in the current year. Combination not to have represented and completed Riding Club or Pony Club at Cross Country/Horse Trials (ODE) or have completed a BE Horse Trials at a level greater than BE90.
Show jumping - 90cm ; XC approximately 90cm-1m in height.

Class 1B - Senior Intermediate
Riders 18 and over on 1st January in the current year. Combination and heights as for Class 1A.

Class 2A - Junior OPEN Intermediate
Riders not to have attained 18th birthday on 1st January in the current year. This class is aimed at Riders not eligible for Class 1A, but still wish to compete at that level.
Show jumping - 90cm ; XC approximately 90cm-1m in height.

Class 2B - Senior OPEN Intermediate
Riders 18 and over on 1st January in the current year. Combination and heights as for Class 2A.

Class 3A - Junior Novice
Riders not to have attained 18th birthday on 1st January in the current year. Combination not to have been placed in any Cross Country/Horse Trials (One Day Event) other than Novice or Starters and not to have won Novice competition. Combination not to have represented and completed a Riding Club or Pony Club at Cross Country/Horse Trials or have completed a BE Horse Trials at a level greater than BE80.
Show jumping - 75cm ; XC approximately 75cm-85cm in height. .

Class 3B - Senior Novice
Riders 18 and over on 1st January in the current year. Combination and heights as for Class 3A.

Class 4A - Junior OPEN Novice
Riders not to have attained 18th birthday on 1st January in the current year. This class is aimed at Riders not eligible for Class 3A, but still wish to compete at that level.
Show jumping - 75cm ; XC approximately 75cm-85cm in height.

Class 4B - Senior OPEN Novice
Riders 18 and over on 1st January in the current year. Combination and heights as for Class 4A.

Class 5A - Junior Starters
Riders not to have attained 18th birthday on 1st January in the current year. Combination not to have been placed in any Cross Country/Horse Trials (One Day Event) competition. Combination not to have represented a Riding Club or Pony Club at Cross Country/Horse Trials (One Day Event) and not to have competed at BE in any class.
Show jumping - 60cm ; XC approximately 60cm-70cm in height .

Class 5B - Senior Starters
Riders 18 and over on 1st January in the current year. Combination and heights as for Class 5A.

Entry fee: £15 members and £30 for non-members. Entries can be made on line www.horsemonkey.com or to the secretary. Cheques made payable to Wilmslow Riding Club.

Entries close Wednesday prior to the event. There will be an additional entry fee of £5.00 for entries received after the closing date. An administration charge of £5 may be deducted from refunds/alterations after the closing date. (At the discretion of the secretary). Times will be available on Friday night, prior to the event, on Horse Monkey or on our website. Alternatively please call 01565 723976 between 7pm-9pm. The course will be available to walk from 2pm on the Saturday before the event.

Number of fences, length of course and optimum times for all classes will be on display on the day. No stopwatches allowed. All classes are open to non-members.

There will be a £10.00 deposit for use of our bib and number, refundable when bib returned.  If you wish to use your own bib please note that you will have to provide your own number also - printed in bold, large type on A4 size paper.  We do not supply separate numbers so you will have to present your own bib and number to the entries secretary for perusal when declaring, prior to starting the competition.   This is to ensure the number can be read when you are on the course. Could we also ask that you contain your hair within a hairnet/bun placed just below your helmet, so that it does not obscure the number on the back of your bib.
